Quinn Labs is a venture studio that starts with difficult real-world questions rather than business ideas. We research, prototype and test them. The successful ones become standalone companies.

Ask
Difficult questions about physical, everyday problems. Roughly twenty a day, written down whether or not they're any good.

Every question is scored against six criteria before a line of code exists. Most stop here, on purpose.

Prototype
The survivors get a working prototype in under ninety days. Built to be tested, not demonstrated.

Pilot
Real operators, real materials, real weeks. The prototype either earns its place or it teaches us why it can't.

Company
Only the ones that pass the Decision Gate spin out as standalone companies. Quinn Labs retains ownership.
Before anything is built
Don't build twenty. Score twenty.
Around twenty questions arrive a day. Each is scored one to five against six criteria. Only the top few move forward, and the discipline is in what gets dropped.

The Decision Gate
Five questions every experiment must pass before it becomes a company.
- 01Does it solve a meaningful problem?
- 02Can we build a first prototype in under 90 days?
- 03Would someone benefit enough to pay or support it?
- 04Is it meaningfully different from what already exists?
- 05Would we still care about this in ten years?
Five yeses and it becomes a company. Anything less and it stays as research, which is a legitimate outcome rather than a failure.

PrimaryEach product that clears the Decision Gate becomes its own company with its own team and customers. Quinn Labs retains equity rather than fees.
Corporate challenges
SecondaryAn organisation brings a problem they can't get to. We research it, build a prototype, and hand back evidence — occasionally a licence.
Licensing
SelectiveWhere the value is the method rather than the business, we license it. We don't need to manufacture an instrument to be useful to the people who do.
Patents and IP
SelectiveNot every idea deserves a company. Some are worth protecting and leaving in the hands of whoever can build them properly.

We're not trying to prove that any single idea is right. We're trying to prove the process is: question, prototype, pilot, company — repeatedly, in public, with the evidence attached.
