What if a remote could answer even when its batteries couldn't?

The remote you can always find — even with dead batteries.

Press one button beneath the television. The TV sends a short, local radio-energy pulse. A passive module inside the remote harvests enough energy to make a sound and flash a marker.

No app. No account. No Bluetooth pairing. No Wi-Fi. No cloud. No location tracking. No replaceable battery for the finder. No voice assistant.

The whole idea

Press television. Hear remote.

Press one physical button beneath the television. The TV sends a short, local radio-energy pulse. A tiny passive module inside the remote harvests enough of that energy to create a repeated mechanical click or chirp and flash a high-visibility marker.

Why this is different

The weakness of existing remote finders

The strongest concept is not simply "a remote that beeps" — that already exists. The remaining failure is that existing remote finders stop working when their tiny battery is flat, the exact moment you need them.

Ethereal Base

A small USB-powered transmitter that sits beneath or behind any television. It has one large tactile button: FIND REMOTE.

Ethereal Mark

A slim module attached to the remote. For the first engineering prototype, test RF energy harvesting, a small piezoelectric sounder, a flashing low-energy indicator, a unique paired identifier, operation beneath cushions and across a typical living room, and whether a capacitor needs to accumulate energy before sounding.

How it could make serious money

Selling £20 finder kits directly would create a relatively ordinary accessories business. The larger opportunity is licensing:

For pennies per remote, customers never have to search helplessly again — and the finder does not fail because its battery is dead.

Reality checks

What Quinn Labs must not claim yet

  • Do not say it definitely 'doesn't exist' or is patentable.
  • A professional prior-art and freedom-to-operate search would be required.
  • Radio remote finders and energy-harvesting systems already exist separately.
  • The potentially protectable territory would be the particular combination of television-powered signal, battery-independent activation, stored harvested energy, audible and visible response, secure local pairing, and low-cost manufacturer integration.

Concept research only. Nothing here has been built, tested or licensed. Batteryless RFID energy harvesting is established; the unresolved question is whether enough energy can be delivered safely across a normal room to produce a sufficiently loud sound from an inexpensive remote-sized component.
